Your excellency Mr. Laurențiu Hristea, the Secretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Distinguished Ambassadors and Heads of Missions accredited to Romania,
Dear compatriots,
Distinguished guests, Ladies and gentlemen, Friends,
Good evening!
Firstly I’d like to welcome all of you to the Chinese Embassy to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, as well as the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Romania. I wish to extend, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, my heartfelt gratitude to those who have been caring for, supporting and actively contributing to the friendship and cooperation between China and Romania. I would also like to extend my sincerest blessings and festive greetings on this occasion to all our compatriots in Romania and back in motherland!
Over the past 75 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people of all ethnic groups have successfully embarked on a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, as well as achieved a historic leap in terms of economic strength, composite national strength, and international influence, bringing about the two great miracles of fast economic growth and long-term social stability.
Especially since the new era, we have advanced reform, opening up and socialist modernization. We have put forward and applied a new development philosophy, worked hard to promote high-quality development, and pushed to foster a new pattern of development, taking solid steps in building a modern socialist country in all respects.
We adhere to innovative development, promote the establishment of an innovative country and accelerate efforts to build our self-reliance and strength in science and technology. We have achieved great successes on multiple fronts, including manned spaceflight, lunar and Martian exploration, deep-sea and deep-Earth probes, supercomputers, satellite navigation, quantum information, nuclear power technology, new energy technology, airliner manufacturing, and biomedicine. China has joined the ranks of world’s innovators.
We adhere to coordinated development, implement sound macroeconomic regulation and control, along with effective governance by the government, and pursue coordinated progress in new industrialization, new urbanization, and all-around rural revitalization, promoting coordinated regional and urban-rural development.
We adhere to green development, make a big push to enhance ecological conservation, fulfill our commitment towards reaching peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality and has made historic, transformative and comprehensive changes in terms of environmental protection. In 2023, China's carbon emission intensity decreased by more than 35% compared to 2012, while the production and sales of new energy vehicles has ranked first in the world for nine consecutive years.
We adhere to open development, promote high-standard opening up, and has become a major trading partner for over 140 countries and regions including Romania. Our total goods trade volume ranks first in the world and the “Belt and Road” Initiative has become a highly popular international public good and cooperation platform.
We adhere to shared development, implement a people-centered philosophy of development, and have made further progress in achieving common prosperity for all. We have, once and for all, resolved the problem of absolute poverty in China, achieved the poverty reduction goals stated in the “United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” 10 years ahead of schedule, making significant contributions to the cause of global poverty reduction.
We have constantly stayed on the path of peaceful development, adhere to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and promote a human community with a shared future. We are committed to the common values of all humanity, pursue the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, and call for an equal and orderly multipolar world and universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, which are Chinese solutions to address the development deficit, to solve the security dilemmas and to enhance mutual learning among civilizations.
Nowadays, we have embarked on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in all respects. We are building a great country and moving toward national rejuvenation on all fronts through Chinese modernization. In this July, the Communist Party of China successfully held Third Plenary Session of its 20th Central Committee, laying out systematic plans for further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization. Reform and opening up represent a great historical process of China advancing together with the world towards mutual development and progress. This will profoundly further change China and will also bring benefits to the world.
Ladies and gentlemen, dear friends,
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Romania, and also the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Friendly and Cooperative Partnership between the two countries. 75 years just flew by. The friendship of the Chinese and the Romanians keeps moving forward, just as the water stream of the Yangtze river and the Danube river is endlessly flowing.
We have always respected each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity and taken into consideration of each other's core interests and major concerns. China highly appreciates Romania's consistent adherence to the One-China Principle on the Taiwan question.
We continue to promote practical cooperation. In 2023, the total trade volume between the two countries reached 10.56 billion US dollars, breaking the 10 billion US dollar mark for three consecutive years. Chinese companies have steadily expanded their investment in Romania.
We continue to deepen cultural and education exchanges. There are frequent exchanges between think tank scholars, art groups, and young students of the two countries.
These are vivid portrayals of China-Romania cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. China is willing to deepen the cooperation with Romania, respond to the uncertainty of the international situation with the stability of China-Romania relations, and work together to face challenges and achieve common prosperity.
Ladies and gentlemen, dear friends,
According to a Romanian proverb, “Water flows but the stones remain”. An old Chinese saying also mentions “Where the roots are deep, the fruits flourish”. The friendship between China and Romania successfully stood the test of time and is deep and vibrant. The Chinese Embassy in Romania and I myself will continue to work together with our Romanian friends, make full use of platforms and mechanisms such as the BRI and China-CEEC Cooperation, to promote exchanges and cooperation between China and Romania in various fields and at all levels and to steadily advance the Comprehensive Friendly and Cooperative Partnership between China and Romania, with more practical outcomes that better benefit the two countries and two peoples.
Thank you everyone!
